Florida at a Crossroads

ree

Florida isn’t just reading headlines — we’re living them. Every day, decisions are being made that impact our health, safety, homes, and freedoms. These aren’t abstract problems. They’re hitting families in District 21 right now. And they demand leadership that acts with urgency, clarity, and compassion.

Health Coverage on the Line

Over 2.2 million Floridians are at risk of losing health coverage if federal Medicaid provisions expire. For many in our community — working parents, seniors, people with disabilities — this isn’t just paperwork. It’s life or death.

My stance: Health care is a right, not a privilege. We must fight for permanent protections that keep families covered and costs affordable. Losing coverage doesn’t just hurt individuals — it burdens hospitals, raises costs for everyone, and destabilizes our economy.

Insurance Companies Winning, Homeowners Losing

Florida’s home insurers are reporting record profits, yet homeowners are drowning in higher premiums. This is not the free market at work — it’s unchecked corporate greed.

My stance: We need transparency, competition, and consumer protections strong enough to keep Floridians in their homes. Stable housing markets keep our neighborhoods safe, our schools funded, and our communities strong.

“Deportation Depot” and the Politics of Division

Governor DeSantis’ plan for a new immigration detention facility — nicknamed the “Deportation Depot” — sends the wrong message about who we are as a state.

My stance: We need immigration policy grounded in fairness, due process, and economic reality. Florida thrives when diversity is embraced, not targeted. This isn’t just about morality — it’s about maintaining a strong, stable workforce and united communities.

Book Censorship Overturned — A Win for Democracy

A federal judge has struck down key parts of Florida’s book ban law, restoring access to titles like The Handmaid’s Tale and Native Son.

My stance: We trust educators, not politicians, to guide what’s in our libraries. Parents have every right to decide what their own children read — but no right to impose that decision on everyone else’s children. Knowledge is power. Censorship is fear.

Black Bear Hunt Backlash

Florida has approved a black bear hunt that allows bows, traps, and dogs — methods called “barbaric” by conservationists.

My stance: Wildlife management should be led by science, not politics. Our state’s natural resources are an inheritance, and reckless policies today will cost us tourism, biodiversity, and environmental stability tomorrow.

Flesh-Eating Bacteria on the Rise

Cases of Vibrio vulnificus — a dangerous, sometimes fatal bacteria — are increasing in Florida’s warm coastal waters.

My stance: Public health is public safety. We must invest in awareness, early detection, and climate resilience to keep our residents and visitors safe.

The Bigger Picture

These issues — from health care to housing, immigration to environmental safety — are connected by a single thread: who our leaders choose to protect. In my campaign, the answer is clear. I stand for:

  • Accountability — No special treatment for the powerful.

  • Protection — Your health, your home, and your freedoms matter most.

  • Opportunity — Florida’s growth should benefit every resident, not just a privileged few.

District 21 deserves leadership that doesn’t just react to crises — but works every day to prevent them. That’s what I’m running to deliver.
